I couldn't decide whether to call this xenophobia, racism, nationalism, jingoism, or something else; maybe it's all of the above. As we all know, bad things are happening in Syria. Why does this matter? Let's find out, from the CBS Evening News.
“Syria matters because of its neighbourhood. It borders both Israel and Iraq.”
Huh? Doesn't Syria matter because people live there and they're being killed?
Watch it here. (The video is otherwise somewhat informative, by USA media standards.)

Commenting might not work. You can try and see what happens, who knows, it might work. (It'll show a message “Your comment was published” if it worked.) If it didn't work, try hitting the “Post Comment” button again. Still didn't work? Hit it harder this time! (Seriously. It seems to work the third time, and then always after that, unless you clear some browsing data. I'm trying to fix it.)
